MEET OUR TEAM!

JENN TIERNEY (she/her)

BLONDE SPECIALIST

I’m a total color nerd! My favorite thing about doing hair is being able to change the way people view themselves. Over the years I’ve definitely refined my skills and focused on the areas that I am most confident in. I define myself as a blonde specialist, but won’t compromise the integrity your hair Even though hair color is temporary, the impact it leaves on each person is permanent and that’s so important to me.

When i’m not doing hair I try to spend as much time as possible with my friends or my cat JonBenet. I’m also a true crime addict and I will never run out of things to talk about. I guess all we can do is try to be happy and doing hair is my happy place.

KHALEE CHASE (she/her)

SALON MANAGER & CUTTING STYLIST

I have been in the hair industry since 2013 and adore all it has to offer. I spent the beginning of my career learning all the ins and outs of this industry by doing hair, managing salons, and educating.

I believe the best haircut always starts with a good consultation. I want to talk about your hair history, hair dreams, and daily styling routine so I can make sure to give you the best cut that fits your goals and lifestyle. I enjoy working with both shears and a razor to create soft, lived in looks that can be customized for each individual.

When I am not at the salon, I am usually knee deep in 10 different art projects I’ll never finish, or traveling to see live music.

RACHEL VON HUSEN (she/her)

COLOR SPECIALIST

I’m a believer in the idea that your hair color and cuts should not only be tailored to you, but that it fits your lifestyle as well. I like to focus on crafting customized hair color for every individual who sits in my chair because no two people, nor their hair, are exactly alike. In my approach, I strive to strike a balance between creativity, intuition, and understanding the hair itself and the science behind hair color. I love creating all kinds of hair, but have acute focuses in blonding, balayage, color correction, and vivids. I also love cutting long to mid length lived in looks.

I’m super passionate about continuing my education, it’s the biggest source of inspiration. It motivates me, challenges me and betters myself and my craft! Education shouldn’t stop there, I strive to give my clients a better understanding of their own hair, and how to care for it when they aren’t in the salon. Having clients love their hair on their own time (not just when they’re with me) is the most rewarding thing!

When I’m not in the salon you can find me obsessively baking, watching cheesy 70’s horror, or taking my coworkers to the cleaners in a game of scrabble.

GLORIA BILA (she/her)

ADVANCED CUTTING SPECIALIST

In 2004 I dedicated myself to this profession and began my career as a hair cutting specialist. It’s a pleasure to help people express themselves and be invited into a part of their life through their hair. I’m here to do my best to listen to each person and customize a look for them. I enjoy cutting soft pixies, fun face framing looks, cool layers and executing lived in styles. I particularly like utilizing the straight razor and creating airy textures.

I’ve trained in NYC with academy classes ranging from razor cutting to revisiting the fundamentals of hair cutting and continue to do so. I’m pretty obsessed with hair and will take advantage of as much education as I can.

I love reading, listening to synth music, journaling and painting furniture. I’m obsessed with 18th century style and I’m creating my dream baroque room one gilded candelabra and sconce at a time! My chihuahua Dewey (RIP)  and I moved to Massachusetts in 2021 to live with with my now husband, Stephen, and his cat named Bird. We’ve recently welcomed our one eyed rescue pup, Marcy, to the family!

TAYLOR DALY (she/her)

STYLIST

I’ve always considered hair as one of the most meaningful ways a person can affirm their identity and grow their confidence. When I was growing up it was so hard to find a stylist who would give me whatever weird, alternative, “scene” haircut I had dreamed up. When I finally did, it felt like I unlocked a piece of myself and it changed everything for me. I do hair so I can be that stylist for someone else. I want to work with you to make your weirdest hair dreams come true, give you the style you’ve always wanted, and help you feel like your most authentic self.

Outside of work you can find me either cooking in my kitchen or out to eat and drink in the city. I am also both an elder emo and aging raver so I’m out at shows as much as my aching back allows. I’ve got two kitties at home (Maybelline and Hazelnut) and I’m obsessively in love with them so please tell me about your cats! I can’t wait to have you in my chair soon!

LEX LOVEMORE (she/they)

CUTTING STYLIST

I knew I was going to be a hairdresser since I was 5. No exaggeration. I taught myself to braid and that was it. Decision made. My entire childhood was practice and preparation for this career. I attended *takes a deep breath*  Montachusett Regional Vocational Technical High School.

This school was a perfect opportunity for someone like myself because I got licensed in Cosmetology in 2015 and graduated high school in 2016. So I busted out those doors with shears a-snippin.

With 10+ years of experience, I’ve always loved hair but my love for people runs even deeper. Of course, I could go on and on about the types of haircuts I enjoy doing. However, I’d like to use this space to focus on the reason this is my career, purpose and passion — human beings.

I’m such a big people person and nothing beats making someone else feel confident. The look of relief on their face when they see the final reveal. The way their posture improves on their walk out.

There’s a strong power you hold when you’re in charge of someone else’s appearance. You can either make or break their entire world in one snip…and no, it’s not “just hair”. This is their ego, their expression and their identity. Obviously hair is, and can be, SO fun but It’s still not something to take lightly and be mindless over.

My specialty is gender affirming/transformation cuts. I believe my biggest strength with this specialty is my ability to bring comfort to others aaaannnddd to make them giggle during that process. I have a knack for turning that nervous feeling into excitement!

Here lies my fun facts: I worked as a nail tech for 10 years, I’ve only worked in a salon, 60s/70s/80s music is my favvvvv &The Sandlot and Labyrinth are my favorite movies of all time

BIO COMING SOON

KORI WHITLEY (she/her)

CUTTING STYLIST

I’m a self-proclaimed hair geek. I use my art form to empower people, enhance their confidence and express their individuality. My journey as a hairstylist began with organized sports and realizing I was better at doing my teammates' hair than the sport I was playing.

Fast forward to now, I’m fueled by a passion for the craft and a dedication to continuously learning and improving. With 10+ years of experience, I still nerd out over learning new cutting and coloring techniques and the science behind hair.

You will likely find me at a concert, festival, picnic, or antiquing when I'm not in the salon slinging mops. I enjoy outdoor activities like picnics and running, which allow me to explore and connect with nature. I wouldn't consider a day complete without a good cup of coffee. And when it's time to unwind, there's nothing quite like binge-watching sitcoms I’ve seen a million times to relax and laugh.

SAM KANE (she/her)

OWNER, EXPERT CUTTING STYLIST

I’ve wanted to open a hair salon since 8th grade but didn’t know how badly the city needed a different type of salon. After seeing pretty toxic salon spaces, I was determined to open one that was different. Blackroom salon puts clients first and we all strive for everyone to feel welcome and represented. I really love what I do and am honored to have a space where clients and my team can be open and be themselves without judgement and uptight vibes.

I educate for the team and Evo hair care to help spread knowledge and build more confident hairstylists all over the country.

When I'm not in work mode or teaching haircutting I’m usually at home spending quality time with my husband and rescue dogs (Winnie, Loretta, Georgie), planning our next trip or house project or entertaining friends and playing board games.
